Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2, 2026
At Lume, privacy isn't a checkbox — it's a core product value. We believe you deserve to know exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you control it.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use Lume:
Account Information
Name, email address, date of birth, gender, and profile photos you choose to share.
Profile Information
Information you voluntarily add to your profile: bio, interests, relationship preferences, location (city-level only).
Usage Data
How you interact with the app — features used, time spent, matches made. Used to improve your experience and our matching algorithm.
Verification Data
A single face-check photo taken during profile verification. This is used only to confirm you're a real person and is not stored after verification.
Device & Technical Data
Device type, operating system, IP address, app version. Used for security, troubleshooting, and analytics.
2. Device Permissions
Lume requests the following device permissions. Each is used only for the purpose stated below. All permissions are optional — denying one only disables the related feature. We never access your camera, microphone, or location in the background.
Camera
To take profile photos and enable live video calls with matches. The camera is only activated when you explicitly open it.
Microphone
To record voice messages and participate in audio/video calls. The microphone is only accessed during active calls or recording.
Location (while in use)
To show you nearby matches and set your city/region on your profile. Location is only read when the app is open and you are using the discovery features. We store city-level location only — never your precise GPS coordinates.
Storage / Media Library
To let you select existing photos from your device for your profile. We only read photos you explicitly choose to upload.
Notifications
To deliver alerts about new matches, messages, and app updates. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data for the following purposes:
- →Providing and improving the Lume service
- →Powering our Lume Score™ matching algorithm
- →Verifying the identity of users to keep the platform safe
- →Sending you notifications about matches and messages (you can opt out)
- →Analysing aggregate usage patterns to improve features
- →Complying with legal obligations
- →Protecting the safety and security of users
4. Advertising
Free tier users may see advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (GAID on Android) and general usage signals to serve relevant ads. We do not share your name, email, photos, or messages with AdMob.
How to opt out of personalised ads: Go to your Android Settings → Google → Ads → “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”. You will still see ads but they will not be based on your interests.
Gold and Platinum subscribers do not see any ads — a premium subscription removes all advertising from the app.
6. Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (e.g., financial transactions). Verification photos are deleted immediately after your profile is verified.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at abitstupidcompany@gmail.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Lume is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data.
10. Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest) to protect your data. We conduct regular security audits and follow best practices for data protection. However, no system is 100% secure — if you suspect a security issue, please contact us immediately.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification before they take effect. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page always reflects when changes were last made.
